Pincushion Jar!!!

Last week we finished a jar of jam, I couldn't bring myself to throw it out because I loved the shape of it... and most importantly of all I LOVED the little writing on it.

Can you read what is written on the lid and embossed on the glass?
It's written Bonne Maman (Good Mom).

Since I loved it so much, I transformed it into a pincushion so that I could keep it forever. :)

Supplies:
- Jar with Lid
- Burlap
- Thick Cardboard
- Filling
- Embroidery Thread
- Needle
- Glue Gun
- Scissors

Step 1: Cut a circle out of the cardboard.  Make sure it's smaller than the lid.

Step 2: Cut a circle out of the burlap.  Make it big enough to be able to stuff it and insert the cardboard.  Step 3:  Thread the contour of the burlap.  Leave some thread hanging out at the beginning and the end (no knots).

Step 4: Place the filling and the cardboard inside your burlap circle.  Pull both ends of your thread until the circle is completely closed.  Make a knot when you have it tight enough.

Step 5:  Glue your cushion onto the lid with your glue gun. (You might want to make sure you like the size of your cushion before glueing it onto your lid)

And voilĂ .. your very own Pincushion Jar!

What do you think?  I really LOVE IT!!

Have a FABULOUS day!!

P.S. I'm linking at these Parties.

Oh my gosh!! Love this. Last week I was in a store and saw these really cute jars with lids, but they didn't have the separate ring thing in them (don't I sound like I know what I'm talking about!). Anway, this would be perfect for them. I've seen others where you have to have that other kind of lid, but these jars were so cute. Now I can go buy them!

Christine, this is so cute! I've gotta make one of these! I like the jar idea because it can hold the thread and bobbin and all the other goodies too! Nice gift idea too! Good job and very inspirational, Bonne Maman!
