DIY Laundry Soap!!!

A few weeks ago I featured How to make your own Laundry Soap by The DIY Village during From Dream To Reality #26.  I just LOVED the idea of making our own soap, so we tried the recipe.

It was really fun sitting together as a family putting all the ingredients together.  We each took our turn grating the Fels Naptha Laundry Soap Bars.

Here's Ema hard at work:

The laundry soap smells so good!!  I'm pretty sure it has to do with the Purex Crystals Fabric Softener!  We use it in cold water and have no problems.  The clothes come out clean and smell oh so good!!  The only thing I find strange is that the laundry soap doesn't make soap suds.  However, maybe that's normal?

Check out The DIY Village for the recipe and all the steps/recommendations.

Have you ever made your own Laundry Soap?
Do you make it to control what products are in your laundry soap or to save money?

Have a FABULOUS day!!

P.S. I'm linking at these Parties.

Thanks for sharing this, i've been curious lately about making my own as I've been using alot of home made cleaners thru the house... I've heard that they do not suds up like store bought, but I'm thinking that like many of the newer phosphate free shampoos, they don't have to suds to clean... I'll be checking out the recipe and thanks for linking to it! New follower,

Hi Christine! I switched to making my own laundy soap over a year ago...and never went back! I use Sunlight washing bars, or sometimes Ivory with borax and arm & hammer washing soda. Our clothes are clean, no harmful irritants and good for Mother Earth. Last point...I've probably only spent about $35 in the past year on laundry soap...and I do at least 3 - 4 loads a week! The need for suds will disappear...if you think about it....does all that residue from lot's of bubbles ever really get rinsed away? :)

OMG I'm a huge handmade laundry soap user! I've always bought mine from Etsy. I love, love this post! Adorrrrable pictures too:) From what I experience, handmade laundry soaps are always low or no suds. I'm going to pin this right now:)
